Keeping a Color Reference for Repeat Label Orders
Use approved samples and documented specifications to guide color decisions across production runs.
Why Repeat Orders Need a Reference
Products displayed together make color differences easier to notice. A clear reference helps a brand evaluate new batches against the intended appearance across its packaging range.
Keep an Approved Example
Save the final artwork and any relevant Pantone references. A retained physical sample from an approved run provides a useful comparison for later orders; photographs can support communication but do not replace that sample.
Confirm the Material Before the Color
Paper, white film, transparent film, kraft and metallic stocks can make the same printed color look different. Lamination and other finishes also affect appearance. Confirm the construction before signing off the color reference.
Record the Production Details
Keep the material, finish, printing process, roll setup and approved sample together with the order files. These records give repeat production a consistent point of reference and make changes easier to identify.
Consistent references, retained samples and clear records make repeat color decisions more manageable.

Before You Request a Quote
- Record the dimensions, shape and intended application method
- Describe the container surface and storage conditions
- Review material, adhesive and finish as one specification
- Discuss a proof or sample before approving a new setup
A label needs to look appropriate, remain readable and suit its package. Use the actual container and intended handling conditions to guide your choices, then record the agreed specification for future reference.
