Adding Detail With Foil, Embossing and Spot UV
Use metallic, raised and glossy effects to emphasize selected parts of your packaging design.
Give Each Effect a Purpose
Special finishes add shine, texture or dimension. They appear on products such as cosmetics, wine, candles and gift packaging, where a carefully chosen detail can give the design more presence.
Metallic Highlights With Foil
Foil can draw attention to a logo, product name or decorative element. Gold, silver and holographic effects create different contrasts against dark, matte or textured backgrounds. Choose the treatment alongside the rest of the artwork.
Raised and Glossy Accents
Embossing gives selected areas a raised feel. Spot UV introduces glossy areas that contrast with the surrounding surface. Both work best when the intended feature is clearly defined in the design.
Keep the Artwork Focused
Reserve special effects for details that deserve emphasis. Mark the finishing areas clearly in the file and check them during proof review. Too many competing accents can make the label harder to read.
Finishing has the greatest effect when it makes the important parts of the design easier to notice.

Before You Request a Quote
- Record the dimensions, shape and intended application method
- Describe the container surface and storage conditions
- Review material, adhesive and finish as one specification
- Discuss a proof or sample before approving a new setup
A label needs to look appropriate, remain readable and suit its package. Use the actual container and intended handling conditions to guide your choices, then record the agreed specification for future reference.
